House With No Kitchen - Days 10 through 17

The last week has been a blur. The work on the house has slowed to where what is being done isn't really noticeable from day to day, and we have to wait for inspections and certain things to be completed before we can move forward.

Which of course means lots of eating out, frozen meals, and the generosity of friends & neighbors for dinner.

I feel like I'm barely keeping up. The dust has only settled slightly, and the pollen has crept in to add to the layers of fine dust on everything. Somehow we're making more laundry than ever. And the hot/cold weather fluctuations are making it difficult to keep the temperature regulated.

I have to say, though, that I'm pleasantly surprised. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. The whole kitchen-being-gutted thing could definitely be worse.

I'd have to say that the most unpleasant part is washing dishes by hand. I really hate washing dishes. I'm one of those put-it-in-the-dishwasher-without-rinsing-it types, so actually WASHING them is a real chore.

Here is my sink, which will likely be gone by this time next week. Sending us all to my master bathroom for so much as a drink of water. I believe that might be when the real insanity kicks in.

We'll see how long it takes for me to go really crazy.
Wish me luck!
