I'm gonna go all crazy on these kids.

I’m about to go ALL KINDS OF CRAZY MOM ON MY KIDS.

“Why?” You ask. “Your girls are delightful – absolutely the sweetest!”

I’ll tell you why.

They stayed home all day today – slept in till 11:00 am they inform me. They didn’t do ANYTHING all day long.

Meanwhile, I went to work and WORKED all day. Then I came home to a disastrous house, with things all over the place – including this box of Rice Krispies – which has been sitting out open on the counter for over 5 DAYS. I had to do the dishes, the laundry, and figure out what to cook for dinner. And in the middle of it one of them scampers upstairs still in her jammies and un-brushed hair and asks, “How was YOUR day, mom?”

‘Scuse me for being a little touchy, but on top of all this, my husband decided to get on an airplane and fly somewhere today, knowing that it was going to start snowing. The airline cancelled his return flight tonight BEFORE A SINGLE SNOWFLAKE FLEW. And now I’m left wondering where in the world he will end up and if he’ll be home before Thursday.

So I’m a crazy mom and I have every right to be. Don’t mess with me until I finish this glass of wine.

The 90-Day Challenge

One of my most successful endeavors recently was participating in the 90-Day Challenge at Lifetime Fitness last fall. Over the course of three months, I stuck to a healthy diet and work out schedule and lost a total of 11 pounds. Add that to my other successful weight loss last year while training for two half marathons, and I’ve dropped 17 pounds since this time last year. But more importantly, I lost two full dress sizes! Yay me!

And the 90-Day challenge was more than just good for me – Pete participated in the challenge, too. Only he beat me into the ground by losing 23 pounds! (He didn't just beat me, he beat everyone at the gym - they gave him a water bottle and a duffle bag with their logo on it as a prize.)

Well, I’ve decided to do my own 2014 version of the 90-Day Challenge. In less than three months I’ll run my next Half Marathon on April 13th – The Rock’n Roll Raleigh. My hope is that by then, I’ll be a.) Ready to run my best half ever, and b.) Weighing in below 165.

I weighed in last night at 171 pounds, so I’ll keep you updated on my workouts, my runs and my weigh-ins (which are whenever I get the courage to step on the scale in the gym.)

Join me if you like by letting me know what your goal is and how you’re going to get there. I’ll keep you accountable if you’ll do the same for me!

NOTE: It is not lost on me that I just shared my weight with the Internet. Don’t expect me to say how old I am.

Also, April 13 is less than 90 days away – its actually 80 days away. Fine, so it's the 80-Day Challenge. Whatever.

Welcome to 2014!

Woo-hoo! Welcome to 2014! Anybody out there think that this is their year? I sure hope it is for all of you. Tell me what you’re up to!

And stay tuned, because there are some fun and interesting things coming up in the next few months for me. I can’t wait to share!

In the interim, here are some things I did today:
  •  Ran 4 miles OUTSIDE because it was 63 degrees IN JANUARY. What?
  • Gave someone a very belated Christmas gift.
  • Wrote a chore list out for the girls that included “play with dogs.”

What did you do today?
