After a lashing from my friend, Jill, I'm back. So you can thank her for my now more frequent updates on the state of things in middle school.
Speaking of middle school, we've successfully completed the first quarter of the 6th grade. It was not without its drama, but was filled with joys as well. Most of our troubles stem from the early morning hour we all have to get up and be civil to each other. The remaining challenges come from your typical family issues - too much laundry, not enough food in the house, its too hot, its too cold - that kind of stuff.
One thing that stands out in my mind about the first Quarter of 6th grade is the lack of homework. I'd heard all these stories about HOW MUCH homework was given out in middle school. Alex & Maryssa might argue with me, but I don't really think it was that much. And there weren't really any big projects either. Maybe I'm only fooling myself. Maybe they hold that back until they've lulled us into a sleepy comfort level and then BAM! Here comes the homework! I don't know. Either way, the girls are doing pretty well in school and I'm hoping that can continue.
With three quarters of school left, we're looking at how the Winter and Spring will unfold. Lots of sports and activities planned, a trip or two, and what looks to be a significant home remodel (more on that later.) So it should be interesting!
